La cartolina recapitata qualche giorno fa a un giapponese, a 64 anni dall’invio, di postini affetti da bradipite deve averne incontrati molti.
Shizuo Nagano, di 80 anni e residente nello stato di Kochi, ha ricevuto venerdì scorso una cartolina che gli era stata inviata durante la Seconda guerra mondiale da un soldato giapponese da uno dei fronti del sud-est asiatico.
Nel 1943, Nobuchika Yamashita, collega di lavoro di Nagano in un piccolo emporio, aveva inviato la cartolina dalla Birmania, un anno prima della sua morte a 23 anni al fronte.
A causa di un errore nell’indicazione dell’indirizzo, non era stato possibile consegnare la cartolina al corretto destinatario allora residente a Nagasaki. Un soldato statunitense decise di tenere la cartolina per sé, come ricordo del suo periodo di servizio in Giappone, dopo la sconfitta del 1945.
L’americano conservò la cartolina nella sua casa in Arizona per circa 25 anni fino ai suoi ultimi giorni di vita, quando decise di affidarla al figlio, che dopo pochi mesi si trasferì alle Hawaii.
Molti anni dopo, il figlio del soldato americano ebbe modo di ospitare uno studente giapponese, per uno di quegli scambi culturali molto frequenti tra gli abitanti delle Hawaii e gli altri dirimpettai del Pacifico. Il ragazzotto del Sol Levante ricevette in dono la cartolina, con la preghiera di farla pervenire – se possibile – al legittimo destinatario.
Dopo una non semplice ricerca, che ha impegnato il ragazzo giapponese per un paio di anni, la cartolina è stata finalmente consegnata a Shizuo, anche se con 64 anni di ritardo.
